Flemish Tapestry Screen

Brussels – 17th century

Borders identical from the series

“The Story of Caesar and Cleopatra”

185 x 270 cm

The present tapestry mounted screen features borders that are representative of tapestries woven for the series “The Story of Caesar and Cleopatra”, circa 1680. There is sufficient artistic affinity to conjecture that the cartoons were from designs by Justus van Egmont (1601-1674) and were produced in the Brussels workshop of Gerard Peemans (1637-1725).
